Xác nhận với phóng viên Tiền Phong, chiều 12 tháng 5, ông Nguyễn Văn Ðào, chủ tịch xã Diễn Hùng, huyện Diễn Châu cho biết, một vụ ngộ độc dưa hấu hy hữu vừa xảy ra tại đây, khiến ông Trần Trinh (38 tuổi), chết, trong khi ông Trần Văn Hùng và hai con của ông Nguyễn Huynh, chủ nhà phải nhập viện cấp cứu.
Tin cho biết, khoảng 20 giờ tối 10 tháng 5, ông Trinh cùng với ông Hùng sang nhà ông Huynh chơi.
Tại đây, chủ nhà đã mang dưa hấu ra mời hai ông ăn cùng với các con của mình.
Tuy nhiên, sau khi ăn xong trở về nhà, ông Trinh bị đau đầu, chóng mặt, mệt mỏi, buồn nôn. Ðến sáng ngày 11 tháng 5, thấy sức khỏe nguy kịch, gia đình đã đưa ông Trinh lên trạm y tế xã cấp cứu, nhưng nơi này thấy không thể điều trị đã chuyển lên bệnh viện 115 Nghệ An, song vừa đến cổng bệnh viện ông Trinh tắt thở.
Trong khi đó, ông Hùng và hai con của ông Huynh cũng bị nhiễm độc có biểu hiện mệt mỏi, buồn nôn, nhưng nhờ ăn ít nên bị nhẹ hơn. Sau khi đưa đến trạm y tế xã cấp cứu, sức khỏe của cả 3 người đã qua cơn nguy kịch.
Bà Phạm Thị Loan, vợ ông Huynh cho biết, dưa hấu được gia đình mua ở chợ gần nhà.
